Who represents us and in what capacity; what is the nature of the democratic deficit; what system of elections and parliament would be more democratic?

Since we last met you’ve probably noticed a general election has been called. It would seem other than sparring around what might be good for teenagers (the vote at 16 or national service) and Ed Davey falling into Lake Windermere (isn’t it polluted enough already?), it had been a bit lack lustre – or maybe you disagree!  Is the real battle after the election dust has settled for the hearts and minds of a shattered right and a disillusioned left?
